Founded in 1579, Vilnius University is the country's oldest and largest higher education institution. Its historic campus in the old town is one of the city's landmarks, while faculties are spread across several locations.
This is the broadest school in the country: programmes run from medicine and law to software and philology, a portion of them taught in English. That breadth is an advantage, but it also means entry requirements and language of instruction differ by faculty.
