If you are coming on Erasmus
On paper an Erasmus student has it easy: the university has already accepted you. The hard part is sorting out your first week in a city you will only live in for a term or two. That is where I come in.
Your Erasmus application is run by your home university; the learning agreement, the place and the credit transfer are between your school and the Lithuanian one. I am not a party to that. My work is the practical preparation before you fly and everything after you land.
What actually goes wrong
The real problems for an exchange student
A single term is not easier than a full degree — you simply have less time to solve the same things.
- 1Short-term accommodation
When dorm places run out, finding a five-month rental is hard; most landlords want a contract of at least a year. Knowing this market matters.
- 2Arrival day
Most exchange students land alone, a few days before term starts. Airport, address, keys and the first night all land on the same day.
- 3Paperwork for a short stay
For non-EU students the route depends on how long you stay. Knowing early what is and isn't required saves real time.
- 4Learning the city fast
A term is short. If shops, transport, campus and social life aren't in place in the first week, half the exchange goes on settling in.
Scope
What I do for an Erasmus student
Accommodation search
Following up the dorm application; if no place comes through, researching rooms and flats that accept short stays, verifying listings and viewing in person where possible.
Airport pickup
Met at Vilnius Airport and taken to your accommodation. We plan your flight time together in advance.
Moving in
Keys, reading the contract together and photographing the condition of the place — on short stays this is where deposit disputes usually start.
Your first week
Shops, pharmacy, the route to campus, a transport card and a SIM. On a single-term stay these need to be settled in the first days.
Guidance on official steps
We establish together which registration your length of stay and nationality actually require, and I come along to appointments where needed.
Reachable all term
Someone Turkish-speaking to call when you get stuck. If something goes wrong with a landlord, a bank or the university, I step in.
Erasmus support is not the full consultancy package: because your application and admission already run through your own university, the scope is narrower and the fee is set accordingly. We go through what you actually need in a free first call and put the scope and the price in writing.
When does your exchange start?
Tell me your arrival date and how long you are staying, and we'll work out when the accommodation search has to begin.
