Visiting your child
Once a student has settled, parents nearly always ask the same question: when can we come? I help with the Schengen visa application and the invitation side of it.
The visa decision is made by the Lithuanian consulate; nobody can guarantee a visa and I do not. My work is to make sure your file is complete and internally consistent, and to set up the invitation correctly. This is not legal or immigration advice.
Where it gets stuck
The usual problems in parent applications
Most refusals come not from bad faith but from missing or contradictory documents.
- 1The wrong kind of invitation
In Lithuania an invitation may be an official one approved by the Migration Department, or it may be supported by documents showing accommodation and who covers costs. Which one applies depends on the case and must be settled early.
- 2Weak proof of accommodation
Saying "I will stay at my child's place" is not enough on its own. It needs the tenancy agreement, the address and the student's residence document behind it.
- 3The format of proof of funds
Which period the bank statement must cover, and what balance looks reasonable, should be known in advance. A lump sum paid in on the last day raises questions.
- 4Booking the appointment late
Summer and graduation season are the busiest periods. Appointment slots can fill up weeks ahead.
- 5Not showing intent to return
Documents showing your ties to Türkiye — employment, pension, property, family — are the most overlooked part of the file.
Scope
What I do in this process
Setting up the invitation
Establishing which type of invitation fits your situation, handling the steps on the Lithuanian side and collecting the information needed.
Accommodation documents
Preparing the student's tenancy agreement, address registration and residence document in the form the application requires, and arranging an accommodation undertaking where needed.
Document list and review
Building your file point by point against the consulate's current list, and catching gaps and contradictions before you go.
Appointment and timeline
Planning the application appointment and working backwards: which document has to be ready when.
Contact on the Lithuanian side
If a document or confirmation is needed from Lithuania during the application, I handle that end.
Parent visit support is separate work from the student consultancy package and is charged separately. Families already working with me for their child get different terms. We put what is needed and what it costs in writing at the first call. Consulate fees, insurance and flights are not included and are paid directly to the body concerned.
When are you thinking of coming?
Tell me the dates you have in mind and I'll tell you when we need to start, given how busy appointments are.
